Our annual festival dubbed She Is Hiphop Festival is the first all female hiphop festival in Africa. The festival that was launched on 30th March in 2019 with the aim of celebrating, highlighting and showcasing female artists, educators, leaders, positive role models as well as women-led/owned businesses.
The festival is free and open to everyone. This community event creates a space for people, organisations, companies and businesses to connect and network as well as exhibit the work they do with the community. The festival promotes collaborations and partnerships, self-expression, exchange of development ideas, teaching, learning and employment opportunities, sharing of knowledge and skills through fun, creative and educational activities programmed such as music, poetry, and dance performances/showcases, mental health, human rights, business talks/discussions as well as menstrual health, beatboxing, dance, and art and craft workshops. All these activities are led and facilitated by girls and women.
