Our girl, Kakuba Sharon👑, won the Girl Champion of the Year 2025 yesterday at the National Girl Champion Awards @girlchampionawards held at Hotel Africana! 

This award recognizes a girl who demonstrates exceptional leadership, community involvement, and a passion for empowering others across all sectors.

Sharon received an accolade and a seed grant to continue the incredible work she’s doing in various communities. We’re so proud of her hard work, confidence, and determination to use her art to teach, inspire, and lead. She truly deserves her flowers 💐

A 19-year-old dancer, rapper, poet, and beatboxer from Kevina slum in Kampala, Uganda, using her talent and art to lead and inspire young people in various communities.

She is a member, student, and teacher at Breakdance Project Uganda (@breakdanceprojectuganda1), a voluntary non-profit organization that uses hip-hop as a tool to engage, empower, and uplift individuals and communities through education, social responsibility, and leadership development.

Beyond teaching and performing, Sharon is one of the young leaders who moderate leadership and public-speaking sessions as part of BPU’s community programs. She is also a beneficiary of the Breakdance Project Uganda school sponsorship program.

Sharon is a proud member of @collectiveglow1, a Ugandan nonprofit organization empowering communities through educational, creative, developmental, and fun programs. Its mission is to stand with those often overlooked, supporting them in their needs while opening doors to growth, healing, and opportunity.

She also volunteers her time and skills with the @she_is_hiphop program, facilitating dance and beatboxing workshops, leading classes during community outreaches, performing, and co-hosting our annual She Is HipHop Festival since 2022.

We’re beyond proud of her and excited to continue supporting her on this journey!
